WOW! What a difference a day's practice makes! A cleaned up, much more organized version of that lead in the previous post.. I like it! And I think "Ghosty" likes it too, because "they" hadn't made an appearance since I "called them out" that one day. Until now, at 1:02 seconds into it, I felt a flash of light on my face while playing. To my credit, heheh, I kept going. It's one and a half minutes long. Warning for those that
might want one. Ghosty at 1:02. :)

Ghosty is clearly a music lover, heheh! And I agree with it: I really like the guitar you're playing here. Sounds free and unforced.

It's a thrill isn't it, when you make a stride forward in your playing? You can play day after day and just like that, one day you're playing at a level you couldn't have done last week.
To build a new mental pathway, now learn the same lead line without moving way up the neck. It will increase your speed if you can catch all the same notes without sliding your hand up and down the neck.

Hi Lisa,
I think you of all people can understand how sad it was to say goodbye to Jack Wild as we have that generational connection to Saturday morning cartoon/kids TV kingdom.
Best wishes and of course happy Saturday!

You see? I like typing "Nab". It is SOOO much shorter, and easier to remember. Always saves so many extra typing touches. I could have typed nabonidus, but of course, why all of that, right? It was with your permission, so there. I saved a ton of time.

Oops, now I'm tired.

To the real point...
I just signed up for DSL, and now I may actually be soon to hear some of your music. I heard and saw one or two before, but it took forever...and I cannot live that long on dial up.

Just thought you's like to know.

I hear three more submarines are due to be stationed in San Diego. That should be interesting. I think that they are just relocating from another base.

Sincerely,

Aw Thanks Sooo much Anne Marie, you made my day!!! I'd been wondering if anyone noticed that solo was good, jeez! And yep, I forced myself to just tune Casper out and keep playing, even though I felt lght on my face.
You can actually freeze it with the light, at 1:02 seconds. So weird...
Again, thank you for the positive feedback, I needed that.

Wow Gnarzuul! That's rad! :D
But I thought it was for my playing! lol JK.

And Gina I hear you. I wasn't going to admit this, but I had the firemen come when the property management company was lagging and I have to hassle them for anything. So I had the firemen come and check out all my outlets and my fusebox, which they did, and made me feel a little better. I just did this. :)
They didn't find anything amiss, though I did try to tell them some
of what is happening. They looked at me funny but did check that much more with all the outlets, fusebox, the outside where the electricty comes in.
Poor Gina- I'm trying I swear! I did listen to what you're saying ,and I take it seriously! To the point of calling the fire departmentlol
Wow! My verification : Vigralik xoxoxoLisa

Ooops, Hi Antoinette! I'm curious about that show, it sounds like it might be the very scary "Ghosthunters"
on sci-fi channel! I know that travel channel has that show too, a less scientific version, but still scary.
I like Ghosthunters because of the focus on science to capture the phenomena. They've caught things on camera that have made me have trouble sleeping afterwards! They have a wonderful website. The Atlantic paranormal society, or"Taps"
everyone should go watch their clips, except be warned. Scary.
I've been contemplating emailing them my "evidence". :)

Blogger Nabonidus said...

Sigh...
Vibrato has never been my problem.
I actually think I'm done with the clips. I never knew I sucked so bad until I started posting these clips. Everyone's a critic. I actually looking back don't know what I was thinking with this idea. No one else is so brave as to show unfinished work. Especially without effects, and lots of bells and whistles to show them in a flattering musical light.
By putting this stuff up I guess it says " Criticize me."
So maybe I've deserved it. But it's not an accurate representation of my talent. It shows me in the worst light possible. It was meant to show the opposite.
I've told certain friends privately already but this is probably it for me.I see why others have been smarter than myself and not done such an experiment.
Brave? Yes. Stupid? Yes.

I also have to add that I play my originals the way I do on purpose, I wanted the fluid, watery sound, and I like playing some of my leads that way on purpose. I don't play my covers this way. It's Santana-esque to me. I like the way it sounds. I'm addressing Ticharu's comments with regards to why I move my hand up and down vs just back. I know exactly what you are talking about Ticharu, I understand. But I did it on purpose and I'm tired of having to account for my playing when I'm apparently thought of as an untalented novice anyway.
When did it get like this? I feel like I have to make excuses for my playing, why I do something, why I don't do something. I've had so much constructive criticism, I took it, tried to use it. Never complained about it. But lately it's like I'm completely getting misunderstood and talked to like I'm an idiot and have never played before. AND from people that are no better than I am, and in fact may not be as good!
And I hate to say it, but there may be a chauvinistic aspect to it, as well. Would you critisize a guy this way? Over and over, every clip? Any of you? No? And I don't see that any
of you are that good, certainly not above criticism.
So I've snapped, I'm not doing this insanity anymore. I'm really not a masochist, though it certainly seems like it from the past months of continuing to put these clips up like some fucking idiot.
I've learned that I have a thivker skin than anyone in this experiment. Y'all wouldve caved a long time ago.
I've had what, a hundred critical comments I could go back and pull up? And I STILL continued to put the clips up! Crazy! Again, what was I thinking? LOLOLOL

In fact, let's see....I think Gary once said I am really talented, said it here at my blog in front of everyone! Thanks Gary! xoxox
But I don't actually recall any other compliments, other than "showing improvement!" or some such thing.
I can't believe I was so stupid, I'm actually shaking my head right now.

Absolute last words:
It's not that I don't like you/anyone. It's not about that. It's that I just can't take anymore. Lately when I put these clips up I just feel dread. My self-confidence and self-esteem is already shot to hell from marriage/divorce. I'm just beating it down worse with these clips.
But it's not about disliking anyone or
being mad at anyone. I'm just tired of it, is all. :(

Hold on a minute...Lisa, I missed something. I'm sorry, I read your response to mine on the "electrician" and boom, I replied.

I am sorry you might be feeling a little raw right now. I suspect, as I do, everybody who visits you here does so because they like to see you and listen to you play. It's clear to me that you care very much about your music, writing your own lyrics, and your memory (I think so) for songs is astounding. You have taken me back in time, pleasantly, by playing so many memorable songs. I loved Bargain, naturally (especially) because I love that song so dang much.

Really, on lying I liked your progress a heap. You set up each post to show, I believe, the process in developing a song. Mainly, I genuinely wanted to answer your central question: why do people lie? But I did so by framing another question. Jeepers.

There are a lot of music-related comments that I don't understand because I don't play guitar (and I don't have a piano). I wouldn't know if anyone was speaking out of tune. I trust what you have to say, especially as you're so honest about the reasons why you could be feeling down. Again, I am sorry that you are and I genuinely hope the day gets brighter for you. And more, that you come out swinging with more new tunes!

Hi Alecia!
Nice to see you! Yeah, the ghost is exclusive to this little cottage-I hope. I haven't had any problems like this before, and didn't really deep down believe in ghosts until now! Even now I'm not so sure it's a dead person, or that ghosts are people that are dead. I almost think they are people living their lives in another dimension.

I hope you didn't take my vibrato comment the wrong way. I was saying I liked the vibrato and wanted to hear more of it.

There is a saying that while tempo and how we attach the strings can off tell us who the player is vibrato is our finger print on the music.

Blogger Gary said...

Lisa - don't take these comments to heart girl. I get them too, and you know what, we can't please everyone. I had Tommy D tell me my songs "sound like fodder for romantic Comedy soundtracks" - Another person gave me such a backhanded compliment this weekend it was an insult, and it came from someone I had respected right up until that moment. I will never blog with this person again. I don't give a fuck anyhow, I focus in on my art and enjoy myself as you are doing, write more songs, sing in the shower to get better. People close to me tell me to truth, and sometimes the truth can hurt, but it also motivates me to practice and get better. I can see the improvements you have made and know you can only get better over time. Many people set the guitar in the corner and kid themselves they can still play. It takes determination to apply ones self day in and day out as you do, so, whenever someone says something, take it with a grain my dear.

There's a post on my blog called Demanding Better, please read it. I want to hear more of your songs, you are very good, a musician's musician, supportive of others.

Peace.

Hi Andy, I suppose I probably did
take it the wrong way, then. I guess it's another case of the internet misunderstanding thing, when you can't see someone face-to-face to gauge the way they are saying soemthing, do you know what I mean? But I wasn't mad or anything.
