A Dream I Had...

I dreamed last night that the lady that does my hair, "R's," husband, "L" died. Weird. Dreamed that I went in to get my hair trimmed, things were the same as usual except that a couple of ladies were talking about "L" having died recently. In the dream I ask "R" if it's true, she nods, looks sad, and I wake up.Hmmm...don't know what to make of it.
"L" is a jovial person, jokes and laughs a lot. I've seen him around a few times when I went to get my hair done. That's how I know who he is.
Anyway...

Years ago, I wrote a story, "Boy", related to a true life scenario. For my fifth birthday present, my father's sister-in-law, an in the home beautician, cut all of my locks off. I was blindfolded, in fact, and settled into a chair in the basement. The blindfold was part of the surprise. Anyway, it was removed after one lock was sheered off. When I was cropped, I headed up the basement steps and found my dad standing in the kitchen smoking a cig near to the sliding glass doors. He looked at me, exhaled, and said, "You look like a God Damn Boy!".

When I submitted a fictionalized version of that tale to a workshop, the prof was a poet. In the story, the protag cuts her own hair and does a terrible job (because she's five years old). Anyway, the poet said something about cutting off the hair is a symbol for death. But then we went around the table with concerns over that being true, given water was supposed to be this and then water, a body of water, was supposed to stand for rebirth. Anyway, maybe the act of getting your hair cut was the death. You think?

Very interesting, I do in fact equate
getting my hair chopped off with being
dead or with some sort of breakdown ( how sometimes people will shave their heads before going on a rampage-eeek)
Hmmm...

Oh and with regards to your birthday cut: OMG!!! :o

nabonidus,

Hair is associated with power in many myths and religions right? Yet the woman cutting your hair seemed fairly powerless... and what would make a woman feel more powerless than her husband dying?

The powerless cutting your source of power. Interesting.

Hmm...that *is* interesting, Jack! And she's also a very tiny woman, compared to my 5 7" . Even her husband is shorter than I am. I always feel too big, tall when I am in their shop. Hmm...

You need to google a dream interpretation website. :) I always get worried when people die in my dreams, though it doesn't mean a thing in a literal sense for that to happen.

That is not a happy dream! I get dreams like that too. You should ask someone who interprets dreams. I think it means something. I do know if you dream your spouse is cheating on you in a dream it means he really loves you and is devoted...whatever! I don't get it! ROFL

Hope to see you in my chat later today :)

Yeah, Samson and Delilah. The woman cutting your hair being powerless, stripping you out of your power by cutting your hair. An act of equalizing, her using the only weapon she has to bring you on the same level with her? :)

I always dream in opposites, anyway, so if I have a scary dream, I know it won't happen. Nothing has happened that I've dreamed of yet, anyway, though I have had deja-vu quite a few times! Weird.

Hehe, here is the new me. Or at least the new profile picture. I suddenly remembered that I *do* have a webcam! It just didn't cross my mind that you can actually snap pics with it!

Weird dream Lisa! I had a dream last night that we were recording the Beatle's "And I Love Her" and that I played well and everyone told me I did, but I didn't believe it because I was half asleep and didnt even know I was playing lead guitar. (does that make sense?)
I think this is because yesterday my band had to record this song like five times. I love it though, Paul's vocals are amazing and I LOVE George's lead on it which I get to play!

I spent a few days in the hospital on some heavy narcotics. Talk about dreams. Damn I dreamed a whole opera.
