Take Down The Tree, Lisa!

Yep, the tree is still up. It's a fake, anyway, bought for a few bucks at the dollar store. For the price it was a good deal, it's really a nice little tree. It's about
5 feet high! The awesome thing, too, is that the branches are already attached to the tree, It's a matter of pulling the tree out of the box, bending the branches into the proper shapes. No color-coded branches to match to the holes. It's already finished!

So it's sitting over there on a little box, which puts it at about 6 feet high. The lights are twinkling away, I don't want to get rid of them. I think they have been helping my mood. The brightly colored twinkly lights make me happy.:)
But Christmas is over. Time to pack away the santa hat, the silver star that I'd hastily made, just to have something to stick at the top of the tree. It actually came out pretty good.
I might keep the lights out and figure out some way to use them. They are probably going to look tacky no matter where I put them.
Anyway, time to take down the tree. Should've been done already.

*sigh* I always say this is the most depressing time of year! Oh well...what are ya gonna do? our tree comes down sometime this week too. It looks so weird once the decorations are all down - like something is missing!

I also love twinkling lights on a tree - I just can't help being happy when I see twinking Christmas lights! :)

Lisa I think you should keep that beauty up as long as you want.

I hear what you're saying, MB, it's the post holiday let down thing.:(

Aw, I think you're right Claire! lol
And in fact, I haven't taken it down yet. :) It's
not going to be up much longer, so why
force a specific date?
I do love those twinkly lights. :)

Hi Lisa,
thanks for nice comments on my song.

We don't have to take our tree down as we didn't put one up. Our cat likes to eat trees and decorations you see. Best we could do is string Christmas lights around our headboard. We're lame I know.

I'm kind of happy Christmas is over actually. I had a good time but I get bored very quickly. Up until Christmas Eve it's "yay! singing Christmas carols!". On Christmas day already it feels: "so, Christmas is over" (that's because in Nordic countries the main celebration is on the eve. I'll send love and kisses to your tree. It seems like a good tree. :-)

You know those single electric candles? I keep those up all year round. They should be running on the cheap now. Some come "timed" so when the sky turns so dark they come on. It's a great way for Beabs to never be left in the dark (it turns dark early here) and also, makes it seem someone is home. I also burn tea lights whenever I think of doing so. Adds twinkle.

Beabs says hello and thank you for sending good thoughts. She's looking much better now. Sleeping like a dog should after an injection and eating some.

nabonidus,

That is a fabulous picture! I like seeing you happy. If the tree is fake, keep it up until June if you like it! Maybe hang different decorations on it for Easter? Why can't there be an Easter tree? :D

Thanks for the comments on my blog photo, I'm glad I finally got a decent

The tree is not supposed to come down until Jan 6th. Then you have king cake! It's a new orleans tradition baby!

Thank for the compliments on the profile pic, Andy, Gina, and everyone!

Yeah, I was getting bummed out looking at my own profile pic, I'd post something cheerful at someone's blog and then see the sad face next to it. lol

Sabatkes is right, although it's a French tradition originally. You keep the tree until the Epiphany (when the 3 wisemen finally showed up) and then you have a cake called The Galette des Rois (king's cake). You wear silly hats and the person who eats the piece of cake with the hard bean baked into it becomes the king and wears the king's hat. We used to do this as children.

So you can actually observe an old traditon and keep the tree until the 6th without a problem. We personally took ours down yesterday- I'd had enough of pine needles and cat sports by then. Of course, you could also keep it all year long- it's your tree, your house!

Cheers,
AM

I'm trying to remember what your post said, exactly. Maybe it was an accident? Removing yours? ( I'm trying)

I think he just removed anything that had absolutely nothing to do with the story or him. Again, I feel the need to say I was stupid for posting that Tarantino quote in the first place, although it did some mild relevance, it really wasn't the place for it. Sometimes the comment section of his blog feels more like a message board, because all of us are communicating more with each other than anything else. I felt weirded out at first though that he deleted all that, since we still were talking about The Who (AND film, I guess) --- but I never thought that the quote would bring forth so many responses, and ultimately the responses being deleted. Sigh. Oh well. I just fear he'll end up deleting the blog once he has finished serializing the story. Let's hope not.

I wonder...the majority of the administrator deleted comments, as I recall mention The Who. I think it might just be that Pete is getting fed up with The Who discussion on TBWHM, which does not have anything to do with The Who directly. Bringing in The Who *might* give him the feeling that all people are interested in is the band and nothing he does otherwise has value independently, that people are just waiting for him to get over with this book to get to The Who. Deleting a pile of comments is not about denying people the right to feel that the band is important for them, it is rather a hint that perhaps TBWHM blog is not the place for that.

He did say in the beginning of the blog thing that the only way to talk to Pete Townshend the guitar player of The Who is to go to the concerts next year and scream at him, and that this blog is about Pete Townshend the writer.
