Easter Is Hope...

Happy Easter everyone. This is what Easter represents to me. It's a hopeful
holiday. A holiday based upon the restoring of faith and hope. And surely that's not bad. Even if you aren't a Christian you can feel it. When I was a kid it was probably the happiest of holidays in our house. My mom was happy and didn't have the pressure of Christmas. She seemed to delight in preparing secret gifts in a way that she didn't during Christmas.
We always had the best gifts on Easter, too. Sometimes it would be a combo of the needed and the extravagant. New shoes, sneakers, but stuffed with these special candies that she'd gotten from God knows where. They were like artwork. Little faces with such detail, with lots of different colors - too pretty to eat! I never did see candy like that again.

We would always do something fun later, too. Usually outdoors. Easter was also about nature and growth, newness. Yes, chicks and bunnies. It was nice to see my mom happy
( fairly predictably, too!)on this day. And the days leading up to it, actually.
But is it any wonder that there is a feeling of hope in the air at Easter? :)

Hi Lisa, thank you for the very sweet comment you left on my Watery Ways blog. What a kind thing to say! I was very touched.

I love your post here. It sounds as if your mum really loves Easter, and the trouble she went to in giving you surprises is very moving. Easter is synonymous with spring and a new young vibrant world. I love it too!

Going back to my blog, I realised that you probably didn't know that Wartery Ways is not my main blog (Dan L didn't either). It's a book I am writing about my early days here in Holland, and although it's written in the present tense, it is actually about the past - the year 2000 in fact! So, Koos and I have actually been an item for a few years now ;-)

I had a look at my profile page and I can see why the confusion occurs. It was the first blog listed. I've corrected that now by taking it off my profile page list, so there's just my main blog there. There are a few people who read my book, but it's mostly just those people who've been following it from the beginning. If you are interested, though, there's still a link from my main page.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to come by, Lisa. There are so many wonderful people to visit, I'm sorry I don't always get to them all, but I hope I can read some more of your posts, and promise I will be back from time to time! xx VallyP

As for your post on my weakest of blogs...

...Great video!

Allen actually does a half decent job of that song in the garage, though I am a useless lump. He uses the slide, as that song is done that way.

Thank you very much!

Aw, thanks Dan! But I admit I had to laugh at:
" He uses the slide, as that song is done that way."

Because you'd missed out on my extensive efforts ahead of time at making a homemade slide with an empty shotgun shell casing. lol yep...and whilst this sounds authentically bluesy, it didn't work very well.
I give a sort of apologetic nod at the beginning of the video, but it probably wasn't clear why I was apologizing. lol
The slide was the most frustrating lacking item for me. ;)
But I kNEW you guys would recognize the song!:D
*note* at the time of that video I didn't even have the new guitar yet. I will say that my version has improved since then. I did figure out "part 2".
And I hope Allen doesn't do the
5 minutes of RP-esque orgasmic moans at the end -I also have omitted this from my cover.;)
It's not necessary.

I think springtime is always about hope and rebirth. I know this has great meaning for you right now as you go through some changes- it will all come out well on the other side.

Hi Lisa,
I love Easter too! It's a great holiday, not just because of the candy, but because it's a lot less hectic than Christmas.
