Hahaha..good to know the guitar survived! It might not be a pieceocrappo anyway..haha..

You look happier. Thats good! And you did a great job..it's hard to sing and play at the same time on that song..

nabonidus,

I'm going to give you some vocal advice here to save your voice:
(Because I'm in an advice giving mood today...)

Step 1, inhaling. Breathe in deeply. As you inhale, don't let your shoulders rise up any... try to breath into the bottom of your lungs, down into your stomach area. Tighten your abdominal muscles like you are about to get punched in the stomach. This is how to breath in using the diaphram.

Step 2, exhaling. This one is the tricky one! :) Try this for me... yawn. Do you feel how your throat pushes open and you kind of feel like a frog. Well, if you let warm air pocket here while you are singing, you will get a much fuller tone. However, this requires relaxing the throat, so you have to push from the diaphram (when you do step 1 you'll feel where that is) in order to push any air out. Doing this you can sing for much longer, and it doesn't hurt your throat hardly at all.

Then you can make more videos for us. :D

Glad to see the guitar wasn't too badly injured, although, if you need a new one, maybe it should have been! Perhaps you could ship it to Pete and he could show you how it's done!

(In a mood...)

Actually...you have two poorish guitars right? You could arrange an "accident" so that both of them break in a different part. Then you could send them to Pete and he could combine the guitars and the result would be much better than either of them originally. That's what he did to two of his guitars that were broken and the result was amazing :)

Thanks you guys!
Hey, BTW Karel,I had a musical breakthrough last night. Concerning a Who song that I realized I knew!
Was always afraid to try certain people. The Who. Jeff Beck, etc.

And Jack, you hit the nail on the head, what is wrecking my voice is that I am trying to sing "quietly".
When I go sing at kareoke, I belt it out freely, and I allegedly sound phenomenal.People say so, anyway.
I've noticed when I sing in my little cottage, I'm tryingto be quiet, and I've noticed that it's
really straining my voice to hold back.Sounds kinda thin and reedy at times. I think I am singing from my
throat here, and at the club I sing from my diaphragm. Major differences I'm noticing. :)

And E.L. Thanks, heheheh the irony is that my other guitar is a strat copy, a red fender repro, and I noticed Pete has the exact same guitar. Saw it on Who TV.
Thanks you guys! xoxoLisa

Cool! Those sudden rush of inspirations are always addicting..

I know exactly what you mean, Lisa. I've never even tried to play some complicated Beatles, Paul Simon, and Pete's songs. Too intimidating! With those songs..you better do it right or not do it at all..

Exactly, Karel. It's not that I don't
love their music as much, it's the opposite! The last time I tried to play anything Who was about 15, 20 years ago! My skills were seriously lacking!Last night I was playing something, and I thought " You know that sounds like it might be some of the chords for bargain" A light went off, and that's probably going to be my next Lisa's Kitchen clip. But as you said, it has to be done right.
So we'll see.
It's funny though, Karel, when I discovered those Bargain chords, dinner went out the window, I sat down right then and played and played and when I finally ate last night, it was about 9! I was so inspired, I forgot everything! xoxoLisa

Ok I really liked it when you threw your guitar (but I also feel bad when musicians abuse their instruments as Jack does), but this was really nice!
And you definately look happier.
Music is good therapy.
I saw on Gary's blog that you wish you had a Susannah Hoff Rickenbacker.
I HAVE ONE!!! and I never ever play it. It has to be restrung.
I only have a (borrowed) bass amp, along with a (borrowed Fender bass).
Do you have a guitar amp?
I also have a beautiful Martin that I haven't been playing lately...I really miss it too. I don't know what's the matter with me lately.
Anyway, just a few MORE reasons to meet up someday. It has to be soon, because I may be heading oversees next month.
Stay tuned!

Ah, this is one of my all time favourites. Your voice sounded really good I thought.
Thanks for the comment on my blog today. I got a little teary when I read it. It would just be horrid to have your idle die on your birthday, ugh, I can't even think about it. But I like what you said about it actually being a gift. That made me feel better.
Tomorrow's the anniversary of my John's death. I can barely stand it.
Thanks for everything Lisa xx

Thanks, Claire, so much!
I didn't mean to make you teary, yet I was teary writing it, I have to admit!
And yep, I was pleased with being able to make my mom feel better about it,
because she had to admit I was right, she had good birthdays after that, and got to see Elvis specials and hear Elvis music every Aug.16th.
I'm sorry about John. :(
Try to find whatever good you can tomorrow.Remind yourself that the time John had on earth, he experienced more, and had more than a lot of people do in their whole lifetimes!Went places, had nicer
things than a lot of people ever have. He had it good. His life was short and sweet. He found true love, honey, and a lot of sad souls never find that, ever! He wouldn't want people to be sad,you know that. He would want people to have a party tomorrow, maybe. And think about how he didn't have to suffer a long slow illness like a lot of people, when they die. Seriously. As awful as that sounds. There are a lot of indignities one goes through when they age and the body fails. Great suffering. He didn't even know what happened. It
was over so fast. I'm sorry if I'm upsetting you, but you know I'm telling you the truth.
Email me anytime, or post. I will be here for you tomorrow if you need me.xoxoLisa
