Very cool Lisa! I like it. We definately need to get together and jam! You can e-mail me if you want. I'd love to hear more about where you camp at Anza -Borrego too. Take care, Sue
Yay, thanks, Sue!!I was scared, that's as naked as it gets right there. The words, etc. Music. It's so damned personal! I really appreciate your feedback, I haven't played that song in front of anyone until now.Until the blog. I was thinking about taking the link down, on the grounds that people might be unkind, and I really don't need to hear any negative feedback. I'm my own worst critic. I'll have to talk to you soon for sure about the Borrego camping.xoxoLisa :) p.s. I sing a lot better when I'm not playing guitar. When I do one or the other I can concentrate that way. With both at the same time, I have to concentrate on both, too. So each one probably gets half as good as what I can do with them individually. Wonder if other musicians feel that way when they are singing and playing at the same time?
Hey Lisa! great job! Do you listen to Joni Mitchell? That's a pretty cool web site, you can upload vids like that? I'm a bit camera shy, otherwise I'd have a go.
Yay!!Thank you, Gary! It WAS terrifying, and I'm glad someone understands that! I was sitting here thinking "Oh God. Should I yank it?" Getting kinda paranoid about it. :) So you can hear the Joni influence, eh? I'm taking that as a very nice compliment. You and Sue made my day! xoxoLisa p.s. You really wouldn't believe how far away those strings are from that neck.I do need to do research and buy a new guitar, desperately. Never had a guitar worth more than a hundred bucks. And you were looking at the most expensive guitar I've ever had.
FABULOUS VOICE! You sounded great! It was catchy too. I'm glad I got to see it! You're inspiring me, maybe I really should give it a go... xxxx - claire -
Wow..awesome..seems to be a very personal song..thanks for sharing
..good stuff, Lisa!
Karel
p.s. You need to teach me how to get over this paranoia of mine, trying to make music and everything. I really need to get over it and just start writing like you do..
Aw, thank you so much Claire! And you know,it actually means a lot if I inspired you. Joni Mitchell obviously inspired me a great deal, from when I first heard her when I was a teenager, too. That's most excellent if inspired you musically.:D
Hey Karel, you are trying to hard, for one thing, if I heard your blog entry correctly.I can tell you what I do sometime. You don't read music either, right? Thanks you guys! xoxoLisa
Inspiring people is a great sign! I actually worked on a new song today. Some fingerpicking - i'm really into that lately. I dont have any words to it yet. But I might post it someday. I dont have a video camera though...i suppose i could always borrow one!
Hey, Claire, remember this: the solo seems to be a fading art in this newer time. I'm glad you are getting into that finger picking. But remember to take up the solos at some time if you aren't currently. So many people can't do a good solo.Is it called a lead? The masters always could. Pete, Jimi, Clapton, etc. But too many of the newer people don't use them in songs. It's like a dying art. We need more Masters of the leads/solos.. don't forget, Baby G.!
Joni's music saved my life (and Pete's of course!). I wouldn't have gotten through my 20s without her! Yes I definately hear Joni. Who HASN'T she influenced, anyway?
Damn I feel like a flake. I can't listen from jusspress. My system just flies and the little arrow spins and spins. What about RealPlayer or Quicktime or WindowsMedia? I want to hear you. Boo-hoo-hoo-Whaaaaa!!!!!
Aw, Ginab, the horrible irony is that I myself use Juss press because it was so easy that even I could figure it out! lol I'm able to email it if I had an addy, I could email it to you and it should just open with windows media player. But otherwise, I just don't know, Ya got me! lol My email address is here in my profile.:) xoxoLisa
On guitar adjustment, I'd take it to a guitar repair shop in your area and tell them to adjust the action on the strings. I did mine myself by using an orbital sander on the bottom edge of my Martin's brdge, making sure I had a replacement bridge if I messed up. You need to adjust it so you have no fret buzz, but strings close to frets. A guitar repair person could do this in a jiffy. Once you have that done, you'll be forming chords you could only dream of.
God Gary, I hope you're right, the chords my brain comes up with that I can only dream of, I would love to play! I think I'm going to do what you recommended, because that actually is an acoustic/electric combo, which is why I bought it in the first place. Thanks!xoxoLisa
I've been posting these in a reverse order...I watched this one last, actually. I liked it. I think I know who you may have been thinking of when you wrote it...But, I'm sure a lot of us have known people like that, too. I love you. You're doing great. Actually I don't, Ginab, and that's something I really need to find out!
I was asking myself the exact same question today.
xoxoLisa
