Ghosts Revisited...

I was thinking about ghosts again. I hate thinking about this stuff, but weird things keep happening around here. Things I can explain, and things that I can't. Example: Yesterday my 2 cats and I were kicking back, and we heard a noise from behind this wooden screen that I have. I have one of those folding room divider screens, cherrywood-looking (It's probably pine). I like it. I quickly went and looked behind the screen, thinking, Aha! I was finally going to catch whatever the hell is going on! So I look behind the screen, and I see nothing. Except: a skirt that I have on a hanger was totally moving, in a hard way, swaying back and forth. Something had been back there for sure, and it wasn't the wind, it wasn't me! I stood there and stared at it and it kept swaying back and forth, and I thought "I'm scared. I really do not like this."

So many things like that have happened since I moved in about a year ago now... This all started with running across my roof, ceiling. Something keeps running back and forth across my ceiling, I've gone outside and looked up, there's nothing on the roof! No cats, no people, nothing. It's a one-story cottage.
The thing that bothers me it that it sounds heavier than a cat, and two-legged.Thump thump thumpthump in the ceiling.

Anyway, the ghost subject made me wonder another thought : What if just as water and air are a sort of medium, and opposite and yet connected at the same time, what if there is an unknown medium, as yet undiscovered? Like air, water, fire, etc. What if there's something so light, so subtle, that we can't see it? Another something, like oxygen. or h2O. Kind of like ether?
Maybe it's h3O. Or h30.5.
And it's on that level that the ghosts live. Fish live in water, people live in air, maybe the other beings live in h3O.5 Whatever that other substance is.
I know, it's far out. But these noises really are scary and they're getting to me!

The ceiling noises I am telling myself that it's some sort of echoey effect from the street out there. I could theoretically explain that off. If a car drives down the street and makes thumping noises, it could echo somehow. But at 3 in the morning when I'm asleep and it wakes me, sounds
just like a person running!
I'm now so used to setting things down far away from edges of things. Because if something is even near an edge, it will fall off around here. Maybe there are minute earthquakes occuring that I don't know about, happening off the coast here. Makes sense.

And it's not mice, or rats. My two cats would have alerted me. Plus those things are really noisy and destructive.
I just don't know what to think. I'm trying to be as scientific as possible about all of this.

About your comment on No Turn On Red: You know, you think too much! : ) Just go to your car and turn on the turn signal. That's all.

About your post here: Hmm. Well. I don't believe in ghosts but I do believe in demons. The reason I don't believe in ghosts is because the bible says once a person dies they go to God. Once there, they are dealt with accordingly. So people don't hang out here once they die. BUT there are demons around that like to do things and freak people out. they like to pretend they are ghosts. Too bad we live a whole country apart because I have some friends that could help get whatever it is out of your house. (Assuming it is a spiritual being and not a possum or some other earthly critter.)
A friend of mine lived in a "haunted house" For real! My friends came over and helped clean it out in the Name of Jesus Christ, I kid you not. It's fine now. No I'm not catholic, so don't think of the Exorsist movie. These same friends of mine also have helped this one girl who had been active in witch craft. She is tormented by the demons that lurk about in such activity. She has had some deliverance, but there is still a bit to go.
Let me tell you about a different friend of mine who had to deal with some demons. He had several instances, this is just one. He was at church, since he was a pastor and a person came to him for some help. He sat down and began talking to my friend as his normal self but little by little the demon voice started coming out, the man got up, trapped my friend in his office and grabbed him by his collar. My friend somehow managed to get free and started to run out of his office but then stopped, thinking, "What am I running for?' My friend faced the demon possessed man and sternly commanded, "DOWN, in the Name of Jesus!" Instantly the man fell to the ground and was struggling to get back up, but could not. He was squirming as if his hands and feet were tied down to the ground. I kid you NOT!
This stuff is real but you don't need to be afraid if you have Jesus. Jesus is not just some outdated name or some legend or sissy thing. Jesus has real power. Sounds like you need Him. "cept you really need to know Him and have Him in your heart. You can't just use His name like a magic word. That won't work. If you don't have Him yet, you can e-mail me (on my profile it is available) or you can go to a local bible believeing church in your area. One of the large churches like Catholic or Lutheran would probbaly not be my first choice. I will pray for God to lead you in the right direction.
I hope I don't sound like a weirdo to you. I know this is the first time we have "met" But since you brought it up, I thought I would tell you what I know.

Hey E.L.
Thanks for believing me! I hate this stuff, I'm not one of those people that are really into seances and channeling and whatever else. And even
if I am starting to acknowledge "ghosts", I'm trying to find another explanation besides dead people in the after life.

Hey, Ballerina,
Turkey was delicious. Yum! I roasted a whole turkey yesterday, today I'm going to freeze it into different portions for various meals. I'm single but turkey is really a good buy at this time.

Ptfan;
I appreciate your take on things,
I'm just trying to take a more scientific view at this time.
Bit I DO appreicate your caring enough to write me about that. I'll
definitely keep what you said in mind, just in case "the ghost" starts heading in those directions.
And I'll see if I can't come up with a turn light song. :D

xoxo to all!

Pretty interesting that you discussed ghosts, I've read a LOT on this topic, and have read a lot of Sylvia Browne stuff, and sometime I'd like to swap info and knowledge with you. It's really cool!

I would still have a tendency to think it is a bird using your roof as a touch-and-go landing strip.
When I live alone, my imagination gets the best of me. I'm a night-light person now because of a tiny blind spot in front of my right-eye, used to make me think there was a black thing in front of me in the dark. I went to the opthalmologist - felt silly because I have 20/15 vision (slightly better than normal). It turns out: I have a lot of floaters. In young healthy eyes, the liquid is thicker, so the floaters stay suspended. As you get older, the liquid turns 'softer' and the floaters can settle to the bottom of the eye. That means that they may go away as I get older. Good.
The one in my right eye creeps me out.

Hi Lisa,
I just missed Jessica.
Saw your comment on her blog.
I know, it is infuriating to see a parent so messed up. Btw, the little kid is a boy!!!
I don't know what the two adults were thinking by shooting this reality show. My guess would be $$$.
I can't stop thinking of him as Danny Partridge though, and for some sick reason, I am praying that it all works out for them.

PS. I've not encountered any real ghosts myself, so I can't give an informed opin. However, the Valentines Day after my Dad died, I was in college. I went to put my red shorts on in honor of the "holiday". When I pulled them out of closet, a note fell to the floor. It said "Happy Valentines Day Sweetheart, Love, Your Daddy". Now I remebered this card was attached to a stuffed animal. That stuffed toy was not in my dorm room in florida, it was still in my bedroom at my home in NJ, still sitting on a shelf. Umm. Never really figured out how the card came off the toy, and managed it's way into my dorm room closet 1500 miles away. I was always sure there was a logical explanation. But I am equally sure that my father had some intervention. What a fabulous coincidence it was at the very least, don't ya think?
Stop by my blog, I'd love to see your answer to my latest post!

And Wow! That really was a helluva
coincidence there, no kidding!I'll be over to your blog soon. :)
And Ms.Amber,
That's a trip about the liquids in the eye, one learns something every day!
And yep, I'm trying to be logical as possible about these happenings.

nabonidus,

I wouldn't worry about it, I just found it amusing. (Having been at the mercy of the rumor-telephone-game myself from time to time.) Everyone kept making references to Stuee's father, I was rather confused by the last name Ross. Glad it's all cleared up now, though.

He's Justin's frog, but I don't see why you shouldn't see him, when he's done. Lots of work to do before I get to that point, though!

I absolutely love frogs. Not the real ones, but for example, I had a toy stuffed frog that was my favorite toy in the whole world. I even have a carved agate frog pendant. :)
I even love frog cartoons, National Lampoon used to have a little frog without legs sadly wheeling himself
in a little wheelchair contraption. I loved it! So cute! Though the little frog was sad...:)
I think it was their logo.

I am just popping in to say you have inspired my most recent post. I couldn't leave the Mahavishnu Orchestra out of it any longer. I've never seen the Mahavishnu Orchestra play, but I have seen several of its members. Music is such an incestuous industry sometimes!

I highly recommend MetalWood. They are half Canadian, half American. I am currently a MetalWood fangirl, but my tastes change day by day. Every chance I get to see them, I do.

I've had some weird unexplained experiences in my life and I do think that we don't know everything about everything (like, I don't think science can explain absolutely everything about life, an idea that my husband the scientist would disagree with!)

My current weird occurance is this: every night when I get into bed, one of my cats crawls up onto the bed with me for his nightly 'pet me, love me, I am beautiful' session. Every night, he is minding his own business when something catches his eye on the ceiling, and he whips his head up and proceeds to stare at it, very interested, for about 5 minutes. I look up, but there's nothing that I can see, and this reoccurs all the time. I try to distract him, but he keeps staring. They say animals are very in tune to things humans can't always see. Or maybe my cat is just mental!

Hey, I like your theory on another medium that's not yet discovered. I think it's entirely possible.

2:22 PM
Blogger Nabonidus said...

Hey thanks for liking my theory, Mary Beth!
Hee, when I read the part about your cat doing that thing, looking at the ceiling, I said literally out loud " Oooh, I don't like it when they do that stuff!" Because I've had my cats
do that, too. Creeps me out. Sometimes it IS sounds that they only can hear.
And other times, maybe it's the people in the mystery element. :)

Are you sure a window wasn't open, there wasn't a breeze? If you have neighbors, ask them what they believe treks over their rooftops. Could be a bird, as in one of those big birds, the kind that could in fact pick up a dog and fly away.

I don't know about ghosts, except I'm convinced that I sometimes receive advice from my grandparents, more especially from my grandmother, when I visit their grave. I have examples, but it doesn't matter. Believing is believing.

Believe the ghost moving your skirt was actually a breeze. :-)

Damn..that's scary, Lisa. As long as they're friendly though, you shouldn't worry.

About the medium thing..I agree that there sure is some kind of barrier that is between ghosts and us. I think it is better if its left undiscovered.

I have friends that are very religious, not extrimists, just very religious. Christians and Muslims. They claim that they can see ghosts and evil souls. Its a gift that they've received. It took them a lot of faith and trust and it was still a while for them to get used to it.

I don't think I'm ready for that..for sure..

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving,

I've been trying to figure out how to post videos and pics to my blog,
couldn't get it together in my reply,
so I threw away a botched comment
but here is the same thing:

My little house is soundproofed,
I've soundproofed literally all the windows in the house.
It's been cooler lately. But you see, no wind. Now you know why I was so freaked by that. There was absolutely no excuse I could come up with.
That's why it bothered me so much.:(
It's the wind, yeah, that's it! The wind!lol :)
I am going to tell myself this.lol

Karel and Claire: I emailed you guys some pics. :) I hope you got them!

Hi Lisa!

For photos: when you go to write a new entry for your blog, you'll see a small icon of a photo above the box where you type the entry. Just click that :)

For videos: for permanent solutions, I believe you need to have a server or such on which to upload stuff. I've used the free yousendit service (www.yousendit.com) and then made a html link of the yousendit link. You have to renew the link (= reupload the video and edit the blog entry) every 7 days or 15 downloads, depending on which comes first. But I've not found that too troublesome.

Hey again -

I just saw your comments about the L'Occitane hair stuff on my scarf entry - I missed it before - sorry!

Thanks for the compliments on my hair! :o) Yeah, I've fallen in love with L'Occitane. My husband had this conference in Toronto and we got to stay at the Four Seasons and L'Occitane was their brand for all the shampoos and soaps and stuff in the room, so it was a great way to try it all without having to buy a full thing and not like it (don't you hate that?)

Anyway, I've tried that Angelica conditioner, and the Artemisia shampoo, and I love them both. My hair is so long and that Angelica conditioner really makes it easy to comb out when it's wet. All their Verbena stuff smells great too - kind of like lemon-lime. LOVE the shower gel. I haven't tried anything with olive oil in it, but I haven't come across anything I haven't liked yet. Their shea butter hand a foot cream is awesome too. I guess everything better be awesome, since it's not cheap!

Yeah, I'm a Sephora freak - there's just WAY too much temptimg stuff on that website. It's dangerous! LOL

9:07 AM
Blogger Nabonidus said...

Oh Gawd yes, I love Sephora, too!
I went back and looked at the stuff I was going to get, it's the " L'Occitane olive paste" . I was looking
for a once a week -type conditioning
treatment, in addition to regular conditioning. I have really long hair also, people don't know what it takes to keep it long, do they? ;) Lot more
work than it looks!
Anyway, I'm thinking about getting the olive paste, because even though it costs a little more than the shampoo and conditioner, theoretically it should last longer, if one doesn't use it so often! But definitely it could help as a weekly booster.
Go to sephora and search for L'occitane olive paste, you might want to try it, too - although your hair didn't look too dry.
