Happy Easter Weekend Everyone...

I like Easter. One can celebrate the bunnies, chicks, grass, flowers and colored-eggs- version ( not to mention the feasting, oh yes, the feasting) of Easter without accepting the Christian beliefs of the day. A celebration of spring arriving.
Although this is The Big Day if you are Christian... I'm sure everyone knows this, of course! But theoretically: shouldn't Easter be bigger than Christmas? Since that's the day he rose from the dead? The whole religion rests upon that and the Ascension.

If he'd stayed dead, people wouldn't be eating ham tomorrow.Ham. Yuck, I don't like ham at all! I'm barbecuing steak tomorrow.
I even don't care if it rains tomorrow, by God I'm barbecuing! Pardon the pun. Hey, I'm literally by God barbecuing tomorrow! If you consider that I wouldn't be barbecuing if it wasn't Easter, Heheh.. :)
Anyway, Happy Easter everyone! Hope you have a nice weekend. Sorry I haven't posted to this blog in awhile. I didn't realize until now.

Hi Lisa,

Well, I haven't been for quite some time, sorryyy!

Happy Easter to you too. I love Easter, the traditions of the Greek Orthodox Easter are just amazing. I always cry during the Epitaph procession, the hymn is so sad...
But the next day is so joyous!

So, Happy Easter, enjoy your Barbecue and have a lovely time!

Hi Lisa,
I was raised Catholic, and Easter was (and is if you still practise, which I don't) bigger than Christmas in terms of the religious importance of the holiday. I think Christmas overshadows it because of the commercial aspect, but not in terms of religious observation. I love the hope of spring and the renewing of flowers and tress, and the return of the sun and its warmth and all of that.
We're going to see our aunt and uncle and eat too much, like we do every year. I hope you have a nice Easter as well!

Cheers,
AM

Happy Easter to you.

And to add to your thought process, had HE not risen, you would be eating the unleavened (not risen) bread, Matzo. UGGH, pass the Gas Ex, PLLLLLEEEEASSSSSSEEEEEEE!

Aw, Happy Easter to you, dear Maria,
Marietta, Sabatkes, Anne-Marie, Sue!!!
Yep, it's a happier time of the year-the newness of everything, the way the air smells so fresh. The cold darkness of winter has passed- a perfect reason for celebration :)

And I, too will eat too much! Some good -looking rib-eyes that were on sale, some strawberry shortcake, corn-on-the-cob.
I was thinking, I don't even really want or need a side dish or bread.
I forgot to get rolls or any potatoes or anything! Well, I shouldn't bother with it then. It's only more fat and calories.Salad would be good, though.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear of the plans everyone has-sounds good! And it's good to see you, Marietta. :) xoxoxoxoxoLisa

Nab:

I actually wanted to bbq on Easter myself, but my wife already had plans afoot when I did the grocery shopping...with HER LIST in hand!

I wanted to cook corn, ribs, burgers, potatoes, hot dogs,...and all in with a brew at my side.

As for Easter, you are so right. It is indeed considered to be the absolute greatest feast of the Christian faith. We were at the church last night until midnight (it's called a vigil). There is no such solemn and lengthy service of any kind at any other time of the year. All other distortions or perceived distortions regarding what is most important to Christians are fostered by the media, mass marketing, and the economic engines of greed.

word verification = suapbq

what is a "suap bq" ???

Happy Easter! Cook up a storm!

I've been slow on the blogs. Haven't really been making my rounds as much as I like to.

Yes, Easter is what it's all about. It's everything. To me, that single day is the most significant day in all of history.

Hello Lisa,

The sun was out here all weekend and was perfect for grilling, tho me and Bea Bea as we trotted around the hood didn't smell any grills starting. I went to a buffet brunch with a few pals, and we had a fun and silly conversation about all things one probably shouldn't discuss over Easter brunch. A lot of writers. The restaurant new the party was mostly from the English department and therefore tabled us in the back! :-)

Anyway, I hope your Easter was sunny and fun and delicious!

Hi Lisa,

I was just going to put down exactly what Anne Marie did! *L* We were always taught Easter was the more important holiday, though it's not nearly as fun as Christmas. To each his own, I guess. I'm glad you had a fun Easter! Mmmmm....BBQ steak... *Homer Simpson drool*
